Front closures (cut-on facings, mock and separate bands or hidden plackets) are basic elements of a garment’s design and are essential to its formation. Although they perform their functions more or less discreetly, our collection of add-on patterns (28 pages) makes use of them imaginatively to create stunning designs. Focal Tabs (1005): It’s amazing how one small add-on pattern can transform the front of a traditional tailored shirt into an eye-catching accent. Overlay (1098): Add your own signature style on the front of your favorite blouse pattern, with our two separate front overlays or use only one set on the left front, or single out your magic with just one overlay pattern. Designer’s Buttonhole (4032): Create a curved buttonhole placement on the right front closure. Then, show the edge of a coordinating fabric using our own shortcut version of constructing “hidden plackets.” A Unique Closure (4036): This right front opening takes advantage our shortcut construction techniques for sewing hidden plackets and provides the opportunity of adding additional interest to the right front with contrasting fabric.
